Best Time to Visit Qatar

The short version

November to March. We will tell you plainly that this is an editorial recommendation rather than a figure we can cite: nothing read for this guide publishes month-by-month temperature for Qatar. What we can say is that the desert sites, the inland sea and Al Zubarah are all open ground with no shade, and that the season is the difference between a half day outdoors and twenty minutes.

What the cool season is actually like

Warm days, genuinely cool evenings, and everything outdoors in use. This is when the corniche fills up in the evening, when desert camps run, and when you can walk an archaeological site at midday without it being a bad idea. It is also the busy season, and hotel rates reflect it.

What summer means in practice

It does not mean a hotter version of the same trip. It means the outdoor half of the itinerary moves to early morning and after dark, and the middle of the day belongs to museums, malls and indoor space, of which there is a great deal and much of it is excellent. If your dates are fixed and they land in summer, that is a plannable trip and not a ruined one, but it is a different one and we would rather say so before you book.

The calendar that moves

Ramadan and the two Eids run on the lunar calendar and shift earlier against your own by about eleven days each year. During Ramadan daytime eating and drinking in public is restricted, hours change, and the evenings become the social centre of the day. It is a remarkable time to visit and it is not a neutral one.
