Venice's Hotel Gabrielli Set to Reopen in 2025 as Five-Star Property

Re-launching at the start of 2025, the five-star Hotel Gabrielli in Venice will be a result of the complete renovation of an historical 13th-century palazzo and six surrounding buildings.

Hotel Gabrielli, which first opened in 1856, is located on a prime spot on Riva degli Schiavoni, near the Doge's Palace, with a direct view onto Isola di San Giorgio. The hotel, which originally offered 120 rooms, will reopen with space for just 73 rooms to allow for more living space.

Spacious front rooms and suites will overlook the lagoon offering postcard views of Venice. Suites will feature separate sleeping, lounging, and dressing areas. Among the suite offerings, the Presidential Suite will be one of the largest on the island with a private panoramic terrace.

Milanese designer Andrea Auletta is leading the re-design, which is focused on restoration rather than reinvention and will include many of the hotel's original design features, such as the Ouadrifora windows on the main façade, ancient courtyard columns, marble bathrooms, and pavements in Istrian stone.

Other typical Venetian touches such as original Murano chandeliers and mirrors, painted wooden beams and marble wall coverings will also be included.

"When you're in this location, everything breathes history and charm," said Elisabetta Fabri, president and CEO of Starhotels. "We want to write the new chapter of the famous Hotel Gabrielli, creating an intriguing and whimsical atmosphere, a very classical Venetian experience with contemporary comfort."

New to the hotel will be a Mediterranean restaurant on the ground floor with both formal and informal dining and cocktail experiences available. There will also be a scenic Roof Terrace with Sky Bar.

Other hotel amenities will include a one-treatment-room spa and small gym.

Hotel Gabrielli is part of the Starhotels Collection, which includes 30 hotels and residences throughout Italy, London, Paris, and New York.
