The newest Marriott hotel, the Barranquilla Marriott Hotel, is now open.

The property opened its doors on Wednesday in Barranquilla, the city known as the “Golden Gate of Columbia” and the largest city on the Caribbean coast. Known as the birthplace of many renowned Colombian artists including Sofia Vergara, Shakira, and more, the city is the setting for the Carnival of Barranquilla, one of the biggest local annual celebrations in the country.

The hotel offers 191 guest rooms and 9 suites, all with their own workstations, open closets, LED TVs, and more.

The Barranquilla Marriott also offers two different restaurants—Amira Restaurant, an eatery that offers local dishes with local ingredients, and Meira Café, which offers Columbian coffee and local bread and pastries. Also on site is the Rum Room, a tasting and pairing space dedicated to “liquors produced in destinations that grow sugar cane.”

Outside of its food offerings, the hotel also has a fitness center, laundry service, outdoor swimming pool, and unique pet accommodations all onsite.

The hotel will also participate in the Marriott Bonvoy program and members will get access to the M Club, the concierge lounge that offers food and beverage options throughout the day, onsite.

"Colombia is a destination known for its lively and rich culture with Barranquilla being a bustling seaport and the capital of Cumbia music. We are excited to expand the company's presence in the country with the opening of Barranquilla Marriott Hotel," said Brian King, President, Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), Marriott International.

"Marriott Hotels has always been a place where guests can seamlessly blend work and relaxation, and Barranquilla, with its vibrant business community, charming heritage, and everchanging food scene, all perfectly located on the banks of the Magdalena River, is the ideal home to this new state-of-the-art hotel."
